Pilgrimage to India, 2018

With Hafizullah & Friends

Pilgrimage is a traditional practice in many cultures and spiritual paths. Travel with a sacred intention has a deep, catalyzing effect on our personal growth and on smoothing the way towards fulfilling our life’s purpose. Traditionally, Sufis and others visit sacred sites such as the tombs and retreat caves of saints. These places have a potent alchemical magnetism that has to be experienced to be believed. The “partition between the worlds” is much thinner; deep meditation is easy, and the atmosphere of blessing in them can have a permanently transformative and healing effect on one’s consciousness, opening the subtle centers and freeing us of accumulated mental and emotional dross.

From March 15th to March 27th, 2018, a group of us will journey to and through India, making pilgrimage to some key Sufi sites and living Sufi masters, drinking deeply of the powerful vibrations there.

This is not a “tour,” it is a floating spiritual retreat. We will begin and end each day with meditation and other spiritual practices to help deepen and integrate our experiences, including Samā in the company of living Sufi masters.

Dargah of Inayat Khan

New Delhi

We’ll begin in New Delhi, paying our respects and meditating at the shrines of Hazrat Pir-o-Murshid Inayat Khan, Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan, Khwaja Nizamuddin Auliya and Amir Khusrau, Khwaja Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki, and other Sufi masters.

Agra & Fatehpur Sikri

From New Delhi, we’ll take the train to Agra and the wondrous Taj Mahal, and Fatehpur Sikri, the palace of Emperor Akbar, both built on principles of a sacred architecture that elevates our consciousness centuries later. Also at Fatehpur Sikri is the shrine of Salim Chishti, where the vibration transmitted is pure boundless joy, and the enormously powerful tomb of an unknown dervish (plus some fabulous shopping).

Ajmer & Pushkar

From Agra we will travel to Ajmer, the seat of the Chishti Order. Here is the shrine and retreat cave of Khwaja Mu‘inuddin Chishti, who brought the Sufi path to India, the retreat cave of Khwaja Qutbuddin Bakhtiar Kaki, and the shrine of Hazrat Khwaja Usman Harwani, the murshid of Mu‘inuddin Chishti. These retreat cells carry a most potent vibration from the intense practices done there centuries ago. We will meet living Chishti lineage-holders and participate in their discourses and Samā.

Near Ajmer is the Hindu town of Pushkar, with some amazing temples (including one of the few temples anywhere to Brahma) and wonderful shopping.

We sincerely hope you can join us for this transformative experience.

March 15–27, 2018.

Cost: $1600.00 base, plus airfare. This includes lodging, all transportation inside India, breakfast & dinner, and any entrance fees. You can save a bit on this by booking cheaper lodging through David Less Tours, our travel agent, the disadvantage being that you might not be with the group for morning practices and breakfast.

Airfares are very low right now, around $750 from Seattle, and lower from some locations. David Less Tours will book your flight for an additional small fee, or you can do it yourself with their instructions. We recommend you do this very soon, as airfares are very volatile.

Participation will be limited to 18 people.

A deposit of $500.00 is due to David Less Tours by Nov 1st, 2017. Full payment of $1600.00 is due Feb 1st, 2018, and may be made in installments of $267 per month starting in September. (Divide $1600 by the number of days between now and February 1st to see how much you need to set aside per day.)

Register at http://davidlesstours.com/pages/register.htm. Do not delay, as we need to book your rooms & transportation. When you register, you will receive a complete itinerary and everything you need to know for this trip, including how to apply for an India visa. Hafizullah will be contacting you with practices to begin the inner preparation.

A Note

We recognize that this is a significant amount of money, and we are keeping costs as low as possible.

It may seem out-of-reach just now. But sacred intention counts for a very great deal, and the pilgrimage actually begins when we make the commitment and are ready to have new things “called-forth” from us by the unseen forces that are always available to support our spiritual unfoldment. In this connection, Hafizullah will be giving the teachings and practices that will open the way for the version of “you” that is the pilgrim on this adventure.

Further information and to register for the pilgrimage, visit David Less Tours. You may also email Hafizullah at hafizullahsufi@gmail.com if you want to be on the participant list.
